At the end of 2018, the Central Bank of Russia increased the country's gold reserves by a record 8.8 million ounces. Last month last year, the Central Bank also increased the states gold reserves.

As it became known recently, at the end of last year, the Central Bank of Russia actively bought yellow precious metal for reserves, as never before. In December 2018, another 300,000 ounces (9.33 tons) were purchased. As for the results of the year, for the whole of 2018, the CBR increased the gold reserves by 8.8 million ounces, which corresponds to 273 tons. Thus, it turns out that in 2018, Russia bought 22% more gold for reserves than in 2017. Then 7.7 million ounces of yellow precious metal was bought.

After the publication of data for December 2018, Russia's gold reserves increased to 67.9 million ounces, which corresponds to 2111.92 tons, and the value of this volume was estimated at the end of the year at 86.90 billion dollars. Now the share of gold in the international reserves of the Russian Federation is 18.5%.
